ED ring for men

Performance Ring: the simple FirmTech ED ring

The Performance Ring is a $60 ED ring for men that supports firmer, longer-lasting erections with no app, battery or setup. It is FirmTech's original, award-winning ring: doctor designed, adjustable, latex free and comfortable enough to wear for up to 12 hours.

Is a simple ED ring enough, or do I need the TechRing?

For firmer, longer erections alone, the FirmTech Performance Ring is enough. It uses the same doctor-designed peno-scrotal shape and 12-hour wear rating as the TechRing, and FirmTech marks both "Firmer, longer-lasting erections: Yes". What it does not do is measure anything. If you want data, the TechRing is the one to choose.

How to wear

How do you put on the Performance Ring?

You put it on while soft, in a few seconds, so it can go on discreetly ahead of time. One loop sits around the base of the penis and the other behind the testicles, which spreads pressure evenly.

  1. OpenUnhook the latch and open the loops.
  2. PlaceLoop it around the base of the penis and behind the testicles.
  3. AdjustSet the tension so it feels snug, never painful, and latch it.

Care

Materials and care

The Performance Ring is made of medical-grade elastomer, free of phthalates and latex, and is water resistant. Rinse it with warm water and mild soap after use. Use only water- or silicone-based lubricants, never natural oils such as coconut or CBD oil.

It ships in a plain, unbranded box, free on orders over $100, with no product name on the packing slip or card statement. It is HSA/FSA eligible and has a 3-month warranty from the date of purchase.

Who should pick something else?

Choose the MaxPR if the Performance Ring's comfort-level tension feels too loose for you. Choose the TechRing if you want to track firmness, duration and nighttime erections. FirmTech also sells a TechRing plus Performance Ring bundle for $295, saving $40.

How we chose

This guide was written by FirmTech, which makes all three rings it compares. It is not an independent review and no outside audit or lab test was done for it. Every ring is judged on the same six criteria, using the same kind of fact for each: the product details FirmTech publishes on getfirmtech.com.

  1. Performance support (firmer, longer-lasting erections)
  2. Built-in tracking and app data
  3. Safe wear time
  4. Fit and tightness rating
  5. Price
  6. Warranty and care

The order ranks breadth of features, not quality for every buyer. A ring lower on the list can still be the right choice for your goal. Read the full methodology.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between the TechRing and the Performance Ring?

Both support firmer, longer-lasting erections with the same peno-scrotal design and up to 12 hours of wear. The TechRing adds built-in sensors, a Bluetooth app and a USB rechargeable 12-hour battery, and carries a 1-year warranty. The Performance Ring has nothing to charge and a 3-month warranty, at $60 instead of $275.

Can I put a FirmTech ring on before an erection?

Yes. FirmTech says its rings are designed to go on while you are soft, so you can put one on discreetly ahead of time. You hold the loop open, place the testicles through one loop, set the other loop around the base of the penis, then adjust the tension for comfort.

Are FirmTech rings comfortable?

FirmTech rings are made from soft, medical-grade elastomer, with a patented hook-and-loop fit and nothing hard or rigid. FirmTech rates the TechRing and Performance Ring at 3 of 5 for tightness, aimed at a secure, comfortable fit, and the MaxPR at 5 of 5, its tightest option.

Are FirmTech rings latex free?

Yes. All three FirmTech rings, the TechRing, Performance Ring and MaxPR, are made from medical-grade elastomer that FirmTech lists as phthalate free and latex free. That makes them an option for men who avoid latex. Anyone with a known sensitivity to other materials should check with a doctor first.

What lubricant can I use with a FirmTech ring?

Use water-based or silicone-based lubricants only. FirmTech says not to use natural oils such as coconut oil or CBD oil with any of its rings. The TechRing is splashproof, and the Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant.

How do I clean an erection ring?

Rinse FirmTech rings with warm water and mild soap after each use and wipe dry. For vibrating rings from other makers, Emen8 advises not submerging them and instead using a sex toy disinfectant, left for 10 minutes, then wiping with a towel. FirmTech suggests replacing TechRing sleeves, from $15, about every 30 nights.
